Hobbies

So Josh and I were talking over dinner about different hobbies that he has and I was trying to think of some that I have and realized I really don't have that many! It kind of made me sad and made me try to think of something I could start doing. Some things I do enjoy are:

golfing

hiking

and traveling (which I don't have pictures of on this computer). So I decided, I really need to come up with some new hobbies, because I don't do things most people do. I can't craft, and to be honest, don't particularly enjoy it, I don't scrapbook, can't stand it, and I feel like if someone asks me what I like to do, I don't really have a good answer. So I'm trying to think of new hobbies and things that I would enjoy doing. One thing I was thinking I would really enjoy is bike riding. I would love to get a road bike with Josh and go riding in the mornings or in the evenings. It's just so relaxing... except bikes cost A LOT!

Another thing I thought I'd really enjoy (which everyone does, but doesn't mean I can't) is photography. I enjoy taking pictures and I think it would be really fun to get a nice camera and start snapping some photos. I have some great programs on my computer for photo editing, but can't really use it with my 3.1 megapixel camera that I have right now :)

Something else I would enjoy is bowling! Surprisingly enough I was in a bowling league when I was like 10 with one of my best friends growing up and I absolutely loved it! (And won a few trophies, but who's counting) But that's something I would need a partner for and I don't know if I could find one haha...

So I'm going to ponder and try to find a new hobby... something I will enjoy doing for awhile. We'll see where it takes me.

Are you up for the challenge??

Here is a challenge to try and better yourself and your home. My sisters in law have come up with these cute, creative ways to do a little something each day to try and improve your life. I'm participating and you can see my progress by clicking on the light/fish icon on the sidebar of my blog.
------------------------------------------------------------------->
This month's challenge is this... (if you would like to particpate, please do! It's fun to see what everyone is doing)

Home Improvement
Every week day this month, do something to better your home!

Some ideas could be:
- Organize and de-clutter something: a drawer, cupboard, closet, pantry, make-up bag etc.
- Touch up those dings in your walls with some touch-up paint
- Hang some pictures
- Re-arrange your furniture
- Give a good deep clean to something you don't get to regularly
- Re-decorate a room
- Wash those "decoration only" towels hanging in your bathroom
- Dust your ceiling fans, light fixtures and blinds
- Give a good scrub to those hard to reach places- behind your toilet, the corners or your grout, baseboards etc.
-Wash and polish your door knobs (who ever does that?!)
- Clean out your closet and donate unused clothing

... that was just the list I made in literally 2 minutes. If I had another 5 minutes, I could think of a ton more!

This doesnt have to be a huge "Home Rennovation", just keep it simple and you will feel great!

So who is in?!?!?

Before and Afters

So I took a few pictures of the floors. We still haven't finished decorating or putting anything on the walls, so it still might seem a little bare, but the big furniture is mainly there. Also the finish work isn't completely done (like putting the baseboards on), but you get the gist, let me know what you think! (also any spots on the pictures are just my stupid camera, haha):

another couch

So when we first moved up to West Jordan, I thought furniture shopping would be much easier and we'd find something we like right away... well it took us an awful long time to find a couch. We finally found a place that would actually make us a couch and they would let you pick the fabric, the cushions, etc. We were really excited about it and the floor model was great, so we thought, why not! Let's make our couch!! Poor decision. After 3 weeks of waiting for it to be made, we lugged it into our house, took off all the plastic.... and sat down. Let's just say it was not soft, when you sat on it you had perfect posture because there was like no room to sit on it since the back cushions were so huge, and the arms of the couch you could feel like the wood through the fabric... it was terrible!! We went back to the place and told them this was NOTHING like the floor model they showed us and they offered to make another one for us. We said fine, and they said it would take another 3 weeks.... lame. They did let us keep the old couch while we waited for the other at least. (Lucky us). Well 4 weeks went by and I called the place and they were like, "Well, it should be done very soon, probably in like 1 1/2 weeks." I was like "no, I don't think so. We're bringing this couch back and we're getting our money back."

We took back the couch, got a check and went shopping yet again. This time we found a couch same day we started looking!! It was actually a couch we saw the first time we were looking and really loved, but it was a sofa sleeper and it was much more expensive. When we saw it this second time, it wasn't a sofa sleeper but it was the exact same couch other than that! So we bought it!! I absolutely love it!! We got it from Ashley Furniture. Here's a picture of the stock photo. It looks much bluer in this picture than in real life. It's not nearly as blue in person. I'll take pictures of the couch and the floors because everything is finally put back to normal. Now we can start putting things on the wall!!!

Yup it worked! Nice! I may have some shorter posts because of it but hey maybe there will be more.
Hey so I just set up my blog so that I can post from my phone. So I'm trying it out today to see if it works. I hope so because this is fun!

spring and golf

Something else that's been great is the beautiful weather we've been having! It finally feels like Spring time, and from what I've heard, the entire week should be nice and warm! I couldn't ask for anything better than that! Since it's been so nice, Josh and I have been able to go out golfing every once in awhile. It's so nice to spend the day outside, especially with Josh. We have such a good time when we go together.

almost...

Well, we've been working really hard on our floors and we are almost finished!! We only have a little bit of the hallway left and the stairs, but other than that, we're good!! I can't believe how amazing it's all turning out! The only pictures I have are before we've swept the floors or put the furniture back, but here's to give you an idea what Josh and I have been doing this weekend. And yes, just Josh and I. One of his super sweet cousins came over on Saturday to help us out, so I definitely want to give him credit, because without his help we would have been working on this much longer. It's been a big project, but it's really paying off. I LOVE hardwood floors and I especially love the hardwood we picked out. Enough blabbing... here are the most recent pics (I also included some prewood pictures):

Gettin it done

Well we decided to start tackling the renovations on our new place this weekend. Josh and I both had Good Friday off which was nice and we actually spent a lot of the day just hanging out and enjoying the day off. We didn't want to be working the entire weekend on the house :) We've been talking about hardwood floors for months now, but finally all of the pieces we need have come in and so we are now taking on this project. I know I say this a lot, but I'm so lucky Josh is handy and knows how to do this kind of thing. He hasn't put in hardwood on his own before, so this is a different experience, but he's doing amazing. And yes, I have pictures to show you of our progress so far. Here are some before pictures. The stairs are the hardest part of the house to do because of the prep work that needs to be done and they're just tedious, so we're starting there first. These are pictures of us prepping the stairs (and yes I said "us"... I pulled up the carpet, the pad and also ripped up the tack strip that holds it down... tough work I tell ya!):

More to come later.
